Welcome to Mathur Agraharam

We are very happy to welcome you, to the web site of Mathur Agraharam.
Mathur Agraharam is one among the 96 earliest Tamil Brahmin settlements in Palghat. This Agraharam is populated with Tamil Brahmin community. There are more than 80 Tamil Brahmin families in this Village. This village is situated 12 Kms., west from Palghat city, in Kerala.
To reach this Village, nearest Air Ports are – Coimbatore and Nedumbasseri(Kochi). Railway Station is Palghat. Frequent Bus services are also available from Palghat City itself, from 6.AM to 9.PM.

Mathur Gramajana Committee is governing the daily affairs of this Agraharam. Mathur Agraharam Youth Association (MAYA) is also doing social welfare works and other supports to the MGJC.

In this Agraharam There are Three temples. Lord Sri Villwadrinatha Temple ( Ramar Kovil) is situated at the entrance of this village. Lord Hanuman Prathistha also in this temple. The Main functions for these lords are SriramaNavami Brahmostavam, Astamai Roahini, Anjaneyotsavam etc. Sriramanavami is celebrate during the month of March/ April(Meenam/Panguni), for nine days. Anjaneyotsavam will be at the last day of Sri Ramanavami (Arattu Day).

In the Middle of this Gramam, There is Goddess Bhagavati Along with PurnaPushkala Sameta Harihara Putra (Swayambhu) temple is situated. The functions in this temple are Laksharchana, (August), Navaratri Mahotsavam (September/October), Sasthapreeti Mahotsavam(January), Taipoosam, etc.

At the North Eastern side of the village Siva Temple is situated, along with Lord Ganesa.
One of the most important feature of this Lord Ganesa is ‘Valampiri’. The functions in this temple are Sivaratri, Annabhisekam, Ardradarsanam,Vinayakachaturthi etc.
